Getting Started Guide

Welcome to the game! We’re delighted to have you join us on a journey through a richly crafted world, designed specifically for exploration and discovery. This project has been a labor of love, and we’re thrilled that you’ve chosen to be a part of it. Whether this is your first time adventuring or you’re a seasoned traveler, rest assured that the adventure begins here.

What do I need to get started? Well, the main set of rules for the game is D&D 5E 2014, so ideally a copy of the player’s handbook would be needed to play the game and make characters. Money tight or time short? No worries, there are many free websites on the internet that can give you all the information you need. We also have books at the table, that you can borrow. As you get the swing of things, you will realize you don’t even need the book anymore.

So what are the steps?

  1. Read the setting background document to get a feel for the location that your characters will be adventuring in. Ask questions and imagine interesting places to go.
  2. Imagine interesting characters that could exist in this world? What motivates them to adventure? What drives them? Take these thoughts as far or as short as you want to go. If you like narrative stories, spend some time here. If you are more for combat and tactic, feel free to go to the next step.
  3. Create three characters based on your vision. These characters represent your adventuring company. More may join later as the guild gains wealth.
    • One character will be level 3, represented in narrative as the junior or inexperienced adventurer
    • One character will be level 7, represented in narrative as the mid-level career adventurer
    • One character will be level 11, represented in narrative as the senior adventurer, possible head of your guild.
  4. Based on the selected mission, which you will get a vote in, bring the character of the appropriate level to the event.
  5. Have fun and enjoy learning the game!
